Who needs a Life Coach anyway? Debunking the Myths About Life Coaching (2 min read)

It’s not true what they say, “Two heads are better than one” and I’ll prove it. Think of the last time you were stuck spending time with someone who did nothing but complain. They complain about the day, the weather, where they are right now, they complain about everything! Were you able to focus on growing and improving your life. What about your ability to think critically in order to improve upon the to-do list items you had rolling around? Likely not. Complainers drain focus, and energy. The more accurate truth is, “Two focused, and experienced heads are better than one”. That’s why a Coach is such a powerful tool for anyone to have; they are the focused and experienced head that spots current and potential incoming troubles before they arise. That’s what allows us to be far better prepared to take on any challenge on our way to our big goal than if we continue to go it alone.

There's a lot of misinformation out there about life coaching. Maybe you've heard some of the myths and misconceptions about life coaching and written it off as not being for you. But the truth is, life coaching can be an incredibly valuable tool for anyone looking to make positive changes in their life. In this blog post, we'll dispel some of the most common myths about life coaching so that you can make an informed decision about whether or not it's right for you or someone you care about. (I’ve narrowed down the regions of people who need a Life Coach and it’s captured in the image below. If you are represented in this image, and don’t have a coach, find one immediately).

Myth #1: Life coaches are only for people who are "lost" or "stuck."

Truth: A lot of people think that life coaches are only for people who feel like they're floundering or don't know what they want out of life. But the truth is, life coaching can be helpful for anyone who wants to make positive changes in their life, no matter how successful or together they may already be. If you're feeling stuck in any area of your life, or if you're simply looking to take things to the next level, a life coach can help you get there. This is exactly why we see any top performer in the world have constant mentorship/coaching.

Myth #2: Life coaching is expensive.

Truth: Just like anything else, you get what you pay for with life coaching. And while it's true that some coaches charge high rates, there are also many affordable options available. It's important to do your research and find a coach whose rates fit your budget. Most importantly, make sure you hire a coach who will get you results.

Myth #3: Life coaching is only for people who want to achieve big goals.

Truth: While life coaching can certainly help you achieve big goals, it's also helpful for more mundane day-to-day tasks. Maybe you're struggling to stick to a workout routine or eat healthy meals. Or maybe you're having trouble balancing work and home responsibilities. Whatever it is, a life coach can help you develop a plan to overcome these challenges and live a happier, more balanced life.

If you're considering working with a life coach but have been deterred by some of the myths and misconceptions out there, I hope this blog post has helped set the record straight. Life coaching can be an incredibly valuable tool for anyone who is eager to improve, could use a strong support system because their current circle isn’t cutting it, or wants to make positive changes in their lives. So if you're feeling stuck or just looking to take things to the next level, don't hesitate to reach out to a qualified coach today!

Bonus Tips:

  1. Like gym trials, your first call with a coach should be free. This is where the coach will prove they are able and a good fit to help you, or if they are not and you want to try another “gym” (coach).

  2. If you are nervous to go all in with 1-on-1 coaching, then a group coaching program could be a great fit to get your toes wet and still get a LOT of value. You’ll have a group of people just as unsure but excited as you are, and the attention won’t be laser locked on you. Plus we can all learn from other people’s patterns.
